Valentines Dominos Numbers

Playing with dominoes offers numerous benefits for young children, making it an excellent activity for their development and learning. Here are some key reasons why dominoes are good for young children:

Cognitive Development: Dominoes help children develop cognitive skills such as problem-solving, pattern recognition, and logical thinking. Deciding how to match the dots or numbers on the dominoes encourages strategic thinking and planning.

Numeracy Skills: Dominoes are a fun way to introduce and reinforce early math skills. Children learn to recognize and count dots (or pips), match numbers, and understand basic concepts of quantity and numeracy.

Fine Motor Skills: Picking up, placing, and lining up dominoes require precision and control, which help develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. These skills are crucial for tasks like writing, tying shoes, and buttoning clothes.

Social Skills and Cooperation: When played in pairs or groups, dominoes encourage social interaction, turn-taking, and cooperative play. Children learn to follow rules, wait for their turn, and engage with peers in a shared activity.

Concentration and Focus: Playing dominoes requires attention and focus, as children need to observe the game and think about their next move. This helps improve their concentration and ability to focus on a task for an extended period.

Pattern Recognition and Matching: Dominoes involve matching similar numbers or dots, which enhances children’s ability to recognise and create patterns. This skill is fundamental in math and reading.

Language Development: While playing dominoes, children communicate with each other, discuss strategies, and express their thoughts, which helps in language development and vocabulary enhancement.

Phonics Phase 1 planning

This is great we have printed it out and we use daily for the Nursery children for a short Phonics activity. It has saved me loads of time and is really well thought out and each activity is clearly explained so the staff know what to do. Each time they teach Phonics they are becoming more confident with presenting.
